China got one mention in US President Donald Trump’s inaugural address on January 20, 2025, and only in the context of his threat to retake the Panama Canal. Trump accused Panama of breaking a treaty to remain neutral and ceding operations of the US-built waterway to China, prompting protests and criticism in Panama.
