US President Donald Trump announced his plan to sell “gold cards” for US$5 million to foreigners who want to move to the US and create jobs. Trump disclosed the initiative during the signing of a new round of executive orders on February 25, 2025. Trump said the permit would grant "green card privileges," similar to those currently available to US permanent residents. Trump said the new immigration programme would be legal and it could start in about two weeks. Officials indicated that the initiative could replace the existing EB-5 Immigrant Investor Programme.
