US President Donald Trump has imposed 25 per cent tariffs on all steel and aluminium imports into the United States. His executive order, signed on February 10, 2025, added the tariffs on top of existing metal duties. Trump’s latest move, aimed at forcibly cutting US trade deficits with other countries, was issued amid warnings that higher tariffs could raise consumer prices. It also mirrored a measure Trump took early in his first presidential term. In 2017, Trump imposed tariffs of 25 per cent on steel and 10 per cent on aluminium.
