US President Donald Trump has imposed additional tariffs of 25 per cent on all steel and aluminium imports into the United States. The move on February 10, 2025, came the same day China’s retaliatory tariffs took effect. Beijing’s levies of up to 15 per cent were in response to Washington’s 10 per cent tariffs on all Chinese imports and plans to scrap duty-free treatment of low-cost packages to the US. However, some Chinese traders have shrugged off the measures.
