‘It’s important that they’re protesting’: Canadian PM voices support for China Covid protesters

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on November 30, 2022, that Canada stands with Chinese demonstrators protesting against the country’s zero-Covid policy. China-Canada relations have worsened since the arrest in Canada of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou in 2018 and the subsequent detention of two Canadians in China on spying charges. All three have been released, but since then Canada has charged a Chinese researcher for allegedly sending trade secrets to China.
