Legislative Council of Hong Kong

After all opposition members resign, Hong Kong’s Legislative Council tries to resume session

The Hong Kong Legislative Council opened for its first session since Chinese mainland authorities paved the way for the ousting of four opposition lawmakers and 15 others from the pan-democratic camp resigned in solidarity. While leaving Legco chambers on November 12, 2020, Democratic Party legislator Lam Cheuk-ting said, “We will keep fighting for Hong Kong democracy.” He unfurled a banner saying that Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam “damages Hong Kong and hurts the people, her name will stink forever." As Legco President Andrew Leung took his seat to open the day’s session, many seats in the chamber were empty.
