Eight Hong Kong lawmakers, activists arrested over chaotic Legislative Council meeting

Hong Kong police on November 1, 2020, arrested seven opposition activists, including four lawmakers, on charges of contempt and interference with Legislative Council officers over a chaotic meeting on May 8. Those charged are Democratic Party lawmakers Wu Chi-wai, Helena Wong Pik-wan and Andrew Wan Siu-kin; Labour Party chairman Kwok Wing-kin; lawmaker Fernando Cheung Chiu-hung; and former lawmakers Eddie Chu Hoi-dick and Raymond Chan Chi-chuen. All seven have been released on bail. Opposition lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung was also arrested the next day, taking the total number of detained activists and legislators from the bloc to eight.
