HK home affairs chief says government-chosen service teams breaking election rules will lose funding

Hong Kong Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen has warned that the government will cut funding or even terminate the contracts of the new municipal-level service teams if, in the course of their duties, they are found to have promoted candidates interested in the district council election in December.

In an exclusive interview with the Post, Mak also conceded it would be a long-term endeavour to achieve desired results in engaging young people amid concerns over their declining interest in politics and public affairs since the 2019 anti-government unrest.
