London hopes to turn a page in ties with Hong Kong, especially on trade and investments, according to UK Consul General Brian Davidson. In an interview ahead of the May 6, 2023, coronation of King Charles III, Davidson told the Post that more ministerial exchanges lay ahead, with Dominic Johnson, minister of state in the country’s Department for Business and Trade, expected in town from May 7-9, 2023 and at least three Hong Kong ministers planning trips to London in 2023. Britain's top diplomat in the city also offered assurances that Britain is committed to keeping a migration pathway open to Hongkongers.
