Hong Kong court finds 14 guilty of subversion, 2 acquitted in national security law case

A Hong Kong court has handed down guilty verdicts to 14 of the 16 opposition figures who contested subversion charges they faced in a landmark national security case. The case involving 47 opposition activists and politicians has spanned more than 1,000 days since arrests were made and 31 of those charged had already entered guilty pleas. The court set aside May 30 and 31, 2024, to hand down verdicts for the defendants. The trial started on February 6, 2023, and many of the accused have been remanded since 2021.
