Over 140 Chinese nationals were evacuated from Sudan as part of Beijing’s continued efforts to bring its people home safely. Families were reunited in the capital on May 2, 2023, after Beijing’s 2nd rescue flight for evacuees landed. More than 1,300 Chinese nationals have been airlifted to safety from Sudan since fighting in the capital Khartoum started in mid-April.
