Chinese Premier Li Qiang on March 23, 2025, called for dialogue and cooperation with the United States as he met US Senator Steve Daines in Beijing. Economic and trade connections were fundamental to China-US ties, Li emphasised. According to state news agency Xinhua, Li told the Republican lawmaker from the state of Montana that China-US relations had reached a “new and significant juncture” and urged the US to abide by “principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence” and cooperation.
