US President Joe Biden has urged his successor Donald Trump to tackle China’s “overcapacity” and dominance in the clean energy supply chain. In a departing message delivered on January 13, 2025, one week before leaving office, Biden said the US was in a stronger position in its long-term competition with China. The outgoing leader also claimed that during his four-year tenure, China had become “weaker”, thanks to efforts by Washington and its allies to counter Beijing in hi-tech, trade and the Indo-Pacific.
