There was carnage for punters at Happy Valley on Wednesday night, with not one favourite saluting and the season’s longest-priced winner headlining a string of blowout results.
Team Team Folks caused the biggest upset of the season so far when defying his $83.5 quote to win the second section of the Class Four Fat Tseung Handicap (1,200m).
After failing to fire on three starts for Michael Chang Chun-wai last term, the son of Super Seth struck on his first start for new trainer Jimmy Ting Koon-ho despite being forced back to second last from gate 12.
Team Team Folks launched a barnstorming run down the outside under Keith Yeung Ming-lun to hit the front 50m out and beat the popular $2.3 favourite, Robot Lucky Star, by three-quarters of a length.
Who found Team Team Folks...!? 😳

Ting continued to deal solely in doubles this season when ringing up his brace with Huge Wave in the night’s finale, the Class Two Shing Yip Handicap (1,650m).
Ting, whose only other two winners for the term came on the same card in September, moved to four victories for the campaign when Huge Wave stretched out nicely from midfield to prevail.
Matthew Poon Ming-fai joined Ting in enjoying a double at the midweek meeting, with the jockey making a dream start to the night by snaring the first two races aboard Lucky Blessing in the Class Five Bedford Handicap (1,650m) and Double Bingo in the Class Five Cheong Wan Handicap (1,200m).
Poon sent the Cody Mo Wai-kit-trained Lucky Blessing straight to the front from barrier three and the son of Microphone kept on gamely to hold off the fast-finishing Apolar Fighter by a short head.

It was Lucky Blessing’s first success from 13 starts, while Me Tsui Yu-sak’s Double Bingo also notched a maiden win at start 18 when he rocketed home to narrowly beat Riding High and King Alloy.
Joining Team Team Folks in stunning punters was Awesome Fluke, who took out the Class Three Hing Yip Handicap (1,800m) to reward his new owners.
Sold by tender to Alan Kiang Ping-fai for HK$1.13 million in September, Awesome Fluke picked up the Hing Yip Handicap’s first prize of HK$1.148 million when digging deep late to salute under Ellis Wong Chi-wang.
Turin Warrior sprung a surprise when taking out the Class Four Chinese General Chamber Of Commerce 125th Anniversary Cup (1,650m) at $16, while King Oberon made it two wins on the trot when snaring the first section of the Fat Tseung Handicap under Luke Ferraris as a $21.95 chance.

“I think the tempo and the little bit of give in the ground certainly helps him,” said trainer Douglas Whyte of King Oberon.
“He did it tough tonight – he was three deep for a long way but he got going at the right time and horses are running on from midfield and behind and coming out wide, so it probably suited him.
“Under normal circumstances it probably wouldn’t have, but tonight’s pattern has suited him. He’s done a great job so far.
“He’s a model of consistency and putting two wins back to back is fantastic for a horse of his calibre and good for the owners as well.”

Ferraris’ success saw him jump above Hugh Bowman in the race to secure second spot in the premiership and a berth in next month’s Longines International Jockeys’ Championship (IJC), while Vincent Ho Chak-yiu overtook Jerry Chau Chun-lok as the season’s leading eligible local.
IJC spots will be locked in at the end of the Happy Valley meeting in two weeks.
