Recap by phillip woo

Heavily backed Beauty Missile sat wide behind midfield before circling the field 800m out and keeping on gamely for a maiden win at his 37th local start. Romantic Fantasy just got up late for second after following the move of Beauty Missile after making his run third last from gate 11. He was able to build on a fourth two runs ago over 2,200m. Favourite Storm Runner peaked on his run 50m out after briefly putting his head in front 200m out following a one-off trip from midfield. He continues to run well without winning. Gold Tack made ground late with one wider out for fourth after biding his time three from the rear. He has regularly pocketed minor cheques for connections this term. Carryon Smiling got going late through the centre for fifth after making his run four from the rear. It was his best effort from five starts this term. Perfect Pairing ran on without threatening down the outside after making his run one from the rear. He's in the right grade but is better suited over 2,200m. Wah May Wai Wai faded after going too hard in front with pressure early on from Super Sicario.

Racing Incident Report

Race One : (325) - MURRAY HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1800Meters

Horse No 1 MAGIC COSMOS (J411) R Kingscote Bumped shortly after the start.

Making the turn approaching the 500 Metres shifted out and made slight contact with LEATHER MASTER.

The performance of MAGIC COSMOS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, MAGIC COSMOS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 2 PERFECT PAIRING (J331) D B McMonagle Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 3 STORM RUNNER (J452) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 CARRYON SMILING (J392) H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.

Horse No 5 SUPER SICARIO (K306) E C W Wong After travelling a short distance shifted out and away from ROMANTIC FANTASY, resulting in its rider Apprentice E C W Wong having to correct his mount.

For some distance near the 700 Metres raced keenly and was steadied away from WAH MAY WAI WAI.

When questioned regarding his riding in the middle stages and as to whether there was an opportunity to hold his position to the outside of WAH MAY WAI WAI, Apprentice E C W Wong stated that his instructions were to go forward.

He said when the early stages of the event were being run inside of standard time he elected to hold a trailing position behind WAH MAY WAI WAI on the rail.

He said near the 1000 Metres as the pace of the event steadied his mount commenced to race keenly and as a result he was eased to avoid WAH MAY WAI WAI which resulted in his mount shifting out and being positioned to the outside of that runner.

He said as the early stages were run inside of standard time and his mount has a tendency to hang in, he repositioned his mount behind WAH MAY WAI WAI to ensure it raced tractably and to provide it with the best opportunity to finish the race off in the Home Straight.

He added after being briefly held up making the Home Turn SUPER SICARIO finished the race off in a one-paced manner.

The Stewards advised Apprentice Wong that, in their opinion, he would have been better suited by holding his position to the outside of WAH MAY WAI WAI, however, having regard to his explanation, they found the tactics he adopted were reasonable in the circumstances.

Horse No 6 ROMANTIC FANTASY (H168) A Badel Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 BEAUTY MISSILE (H123) H Bowman Raced wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 PERPETUAL POWER (J326) J Orman J Orman stated that his instructions were to hold a more forward position but when his mount jumped only fairly it settled further back in the field than intended.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 WAH MAY WAI WAI (J193) M L Yeung After travelling a short distance shifted out and made contact with GOLD TACK.

M L Yeung could offer no excuse for his mount giving ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 GOLD TACK (H106) K Teetan K Teetan stated that his instructions were to hold a more forward position but despite riding his mount along in the early stages it did not show sufficient pace to do so, particularly when it was bumped by WAH MAY WAI WAI which shifted out after travelling a short distance.

Horse No 12 LEATHER MASTER (H034) C Y Ho Approaching the 500 Metres was checked when crowded between MAGIC COSMOS which shifted out making the turn and CARRYON SMILING which raced tight to the inside of ROMANTIC FANTASY (A Badel) when that runner shifted in.

A Badel was reprimanded and advised he must ensure that he leaves sufficient room for runners to his inside.
