Racing returns to the Sha Tin turf on Sunday for the first time in two weeks, with the Group Three Sa Sa Ladies’ Purse (1,800m) the highlight of the 10-race card.

Jay Rooney is in the hot seat to provide an extended rundown of his selections.

Race 1 – Class Five L’Oreal Paris Handicap (1,600m)

Perfect Peach followed a good win with a sound second to Ninja Derby last start and looks the one to beat here.

Race 2 – Class Four Grace One Handicap (1,000m)

Ka Ying Warrior has trialled very nicely for new trainer Brett Crawford and can strike in an open race up the straight.

Ka Ying Warrior wins at Sha Tin in February.

Race 3 – Class Five Kate Tokyo Handicap (1,400m)

Circuit Victory made all on his last start in Class Five and can do the same here with apprentice Britney Wong Po-ni on board.

Race 4 – Class Four La Estephe Handicap (1,600m)

Gloriastar made quite an impression on debut for Mark Newnham, rocketing home from last to run seventh, beaten just under two lengths. He should relish the step up to a mile.

Race 5 – Class Three Canmake Tokyo Handicap (1,200m)

Sunny Da Best finished powerfully down the centre of the straight track for an eye-catching fourth on his seasonal reappearance and the rise in trip looks ideal here.

Race 6 – Class Four Suisse Programme Handicap (1,200m)

Szeryng has trialled particularly well up at Conghua and can strike first up with Zac Purton on board.

Race 7 – Group Three Sa Sa Ladies’ Purse (1,800m)

In a wide-open edition of the HK$4.2 million feature, Cap Ferrat can bounce back from a luckless first-up run with Purton hopping aboard for the first time.

Race 8 – Class Four Elizabeth Arden Handicap (1,400m)

In a race that lacks speed on paper, Strathpeffer should get an ideal run on the pace from barrier three as he bids to repeat his last-start success.

Race 9 – Class Three Neogence Handicap (1,400m)

Lucky Sam Gor has put together a pair of explosive victories in succession and can make it three in a row up in class off a light weight.

Race 10 – Class Two Santa Monica Handicap (1,400m)

Light Years Charm will command plenty of attention and support, but Aeris Nova’s barnstorming fourth behind the in-form Tomodachi Kokoroe first up caught the eye. He can capitalise on a good draw and light weight.
