A bumper day of action awaits at Sha Tin on Sunday, with a Group Three Celebration Cup (1,400m) featuring the likes of My Wish and Rubylot headlining the card.
There are a whopping 11 races on the card and Owen Goulding is in the hot seat to provide an extended rundown of his selections.
Race 1 – Class Five Tropicbird Handicap (1,200m)
Speedy Smartie ran a game race when second on his return on the turf at Sha Tin in the season opener. He has plenty of pace to burn and has run well on multiple occasions on the all-weather, so rates as a smart bet from stall three.
Benno Yung scores a winner at his final fixture! 👏

Race 2 – Class Four Parrot Handicap (1,000m)
Lahore was beaten less than a length in his first three starts before being forced to play bumper cars when last seen. A higher draw would have been ideal but he is a winner in waiting and Zac Purton retains the ride.
Race 3 – Class Five Woodpecker Handicap (1,600m)
Ninja Derby is yet to put his best foot forward at Sha Tin, but he caught the eye in a recent trial and was a winner first time up last season. He makes his stable debut for Brett Crawford and this trip is ideal for him.
Race 4 – Class Four Swallow Handicap (1,200m)
Fun N Fun Together has drawn the inside barrier and should get an unpestered time of things on the front under Zac Purton. He is unexposed and a recent trial win suggests he is still on the improve.
Race 5 – Class Four Shrike Handicap (1,200m)
Packing Phoenix has won all four of his trials in the manner of a smart-looking operator. He debuts with Zac Purton on board and would not need to be a superstar to make a winning debut in a muddling affair.

Race 6 – Class Four Tailorbird Handicap (1,400m)
Blazing Wukong looked the real deal with an eye-catching debut win and ran better than the bare result in defeat subsequently. He has strengthened up over the winter – as a winning trial suggests – and could flourish into a four-year-old series contender now he is up in trip.
Race 7 – Class Four Cuckoo Handicap (1,200m)
Light Years Glory is not ideally drawn but he looked a useful type as a Griffin last campaign. There should be plenty more to come and as a horse who will come with a late run, the draw is less of a concern. He can fly late and make it two wins from three.
Race 8 – Group Three Celebration Cup (1,400m)
My Wish should have enough class to overcome the shorter-than-ideal trip. He would appeal more over further, but he was a dual 1,400m winner last season and does not lack speed, as a recent trial demolition showed. He is the best of last season’s four-year-old crop and with an honest pace to chase, he can pick the leaders’ pockets late on the way to bigger things.

Race 9 – Class Two Magpie Handicap (1,200m)
Kaholo Angel can win a devilishly competitive handicap. Most of his wins have come at Happy Valley, but he is fine at Sha Tin too and was going from strength to strength last season. He can settle in midfield from a wide draw and can use his customary burst to pick them up close home.
Race 10 – Class Three Hwamei Handicap (1,400m)
A chance is taken on Ghorgan, who shaped better in a recent trial and remains unexposed overall. He is four pounds lower in the weights and should get a good crack at things from a kind draw in stall four.
Race 11 – Class Three Mesia Handicap (1,600m)
Beauty Bolt can cap off another great day for Purton. He hit the line really well to get off the mark over 1,400m and should improve for the extra 200m. There is a huge amount of potential under the bonnet and he is a leading chance.
