Vincent Ho Chak-yiu remains in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Prince of Wales Hospital after sustaining a head injury and minor shoulder and neck fractures after falling from Oldtown in race six at Sha Tin on Sunday.
In an update late on Monday afternoon, Jockey Club chief steward Marc van Gestel confirmed Ho underwent overnight monitoring in the ICU and is expected to be moved to the general ward within the next 24 hours.
The jockey, who has endured a wretched run of race falls, is expected to heal from his injuries “with conservative management”.
While it is unknown at this point how long Ho will be out of the saddle, Angus Chung Yik-lai is facing up to six weeks on the sidelines after fracturing his right facial bone in the horror three-horse pile up in Sunday’s ninth event.
Keith Yeung Ming-lun is expected to be back in two to three weeks after suffering “contusion injuries over his left shoulder muscles, thigh muscles and left buttock muscles”.
As previously reported by the Post, Zac Purton underwent surgery on his fractured left big toe on Monday and Van Gestel confirmed he is “likely to require approximately four to six weeks of rest and rehabilitation”.
