He’ll be without his partner in crime in the saddle but trainer Frankie Lor Fu-chuen is quietly confident Never Peter Out can continue his impressive run at Sha Tin on Wednesday night.
With regular jockey Keith Yeung Ming-lun sidelined after bruising his upper thigh in Sunday’s shocking fall at Sha Tin, Lor has enlisted the services of Dylan Mo Hin-tung to ride his in-form son of Grunt.
Yeung has been a mainstay atop Never Peter Out since May, with the likeable 36-year-old extracting three all-weather wins out of the gelding from six starts this season, including two victories from his past two runs.
Those two wins came over the extended dirt mile in Class Four and Never Peter Out stays at the course and distance but rises in grade for the Class Three Green Island Handicap (1,650m).
“He goes up in class with a light weight. I can’t say he’s a really good chance, but I think he’s got a chance because he’s really good on the dirt,” said Lor, who acquired Never Peter Out from Cody Mo Wai-kit ahead of this season.

“He’s in good form and we’ll see how he goes with the light weight.”
Never Peter Out has been assigned bottom weight of 115 pounds but does find himself one pound out of the handicap by virtue of the race being open to gallopers rated from 85 to 60.
The four-year-old will jump from gate six and will end up carrying 113 pounds thanks to the claim of Mo, who will be riding the galloper for the first time.
Lor will look to continue his impressive season on the all-weather track at Wednesday night’s dirt-only card, saddling up seven runners across the evening’s nine races.
Lor leads the unofficial dirt premiership at the halfway mark of the 2024-25 season, with five of his 23 successes this campaign coming on the all-weather surface.

Four of his midweek runners – Ever Smart, Gimme Five, Glorious Journey and Lucky Impact – are trying the dirt for the first time, while Cheer For South and Massive Action are looking to convert solid recent form on the surface into wins.
Another trainer who has made a presence on the all-weather this season is Mark Newnham, saddling up four winners, and the Australian trainer takes a strong hand into Wednesday night’s feature with Full Credit and Sing Dragon.
That pair will tackle the likes of Group galloper Flying Ace, Tomodachi Kokoroe, Bundle Of Charm and Lady’s Choice in the Class Two Tin Chak Handicap (1,200m).
With Zac Purton, Vincent Ho Chak-yiu and Angus Chung Yik-lai joining Yeung on the injured list after Sunday’s carnage and Jerry Chau Chun-lok, Derek Leung Ka-chun and Lyle Hewitson suspended, only 15 jockeys will be riding at the midweek meeting.
They include Alexis Badel and Andrea Atzeni, who had their suspensions lifted to ensure they were available. Both have picked up seven mounts.
