Canada PM Trudeau proposes handgun sales ban after mass shootings in US

The Canadian government introduced legislation on May 30, 2022, to implement a “national freeze” on handgun ownership. Following recent mass shootings in the United States, the proposal is part of a gun-control package in the country, aimed at effectively banning the import and sale of handguns. It would also limit magazine capacities and ban some toys that look like guns.
