Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on September 18, 2023, that the country is investigating “credible allegations” linking Indian agents to the killing of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada has expelled an Indian diplomat believed to have a credible link to the murder, the country’s foreign minister confirmed following Trudeau’s remarks. Nijjar, whom India had declared a wanted terrorist, was shot dead on June 18 near the Canadian city of Vancouver. The unsolved killing sparked protests among Canada’s Sikh community against India.
