India has suspended visa services for Canadians because of security threats to its consular staff in Canada, according to India's Foreign Ministry. The step, announced on September 21, 2023, marked a further escalation of tensions between the two countries, set off by Canada's announcement that it was actively pursuing “credible allegations" linking Indian government agents to the murder of a Sikh separatist leader on Canadian soil in June.
