Hero doctor charged gunman and prevented further bloodshed in California church shooting

The doctor who died in the Laguna Woods church shooting in California on May 15, 2022, has been hailed as a hero. Dr John Cheng died from a gunshot wound after he tackled the shooter to the ground. According to Orange County sheriff Donald Barnes, his action saved dozens of lives. The suspect, David Chou, is a Chinese immigrant from Las Vegas, who was born and raised in Taiwan. He was initially mis-identified as being from mainland China. The attack came one day after another mass shooting in Buffalo, New York that left 10 people dead.
