‘Multiple systemic failures’ in police response to Texas school shooting, report finds

An investigative report released on July 17, 2022, found “multiple systemic failures” in the police response to the Uvalde, Texas school shooting on May 24. The 77-page report was the first to criticise state and federal law enforcement, not just local authorities, for officer inaction as the gunman killed 19 children and two teachers. According to the report, 376 armed officers were at the scene but they waited more than an hour before entering the classrooms to stop the gunman.
