At least 19 children among dead in Texas school shooting, the deadliest attack since Sandy Hook

A gunman murdered at least 19 children and two adults including a teacher at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde the US state of Texas on May 24, 2022. The 18-year-old assailant, described as a resident of the community, was reportedly killed by responding law enforcement officers. The incident about 135km (85 miles) west of San Antonio was the deadliest shooting at a US junior school since a 2012 attack in Sandy Hook, Connecticut. US President Joe Biden, just after his return from a trip to Asia, ordered all flags at federal buildings to be flown at half-staff to mourn the victims.
