Leting Cai was hanging out at a playground near his home in the New York borough of Queens with his friends when five teenagers approached the 15-year old and one of them called him “ching chong”. They then physically harassed Cai’s friends – punching and kicking him when he intervened. After the incident, Cai decided to set up a group to support other teens who have had similar experiences. “I feel like I need to stand up more now,” he said. “Because this can raise awareness, and this will give Asians and the Asian community a voice.”
