New Yorkers escort elderly and form street patrols to combat anti-Asian attacks

New Yorkers have formed street patrols and volunteered to escort elderly people in an effort to combat anti-Asian attacks. Members of the Chinatown Block Watch have been patrolling the neighbourhood since February 2020. The founder of the group, Karlin Chan, said if they saw an incident, they would defuse and document it. Another group, Protect Chinatown, offers escorts to protect seniors. Sandy Yang, co-founder of the group, said 400 people have signed up to help.
