The Washington Post on January 3, 2020, released an excerpt of a recording of an hour-long call in which US President Donald Trump pressured Georgia’s top election official Brad Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to overturn his defeat in the southern state. Trump reportedly made the call on January 2.The Washington Post reported that during the call Trump alternately flattered, begged and threatened Republican Raffensperger with vague criminal consequences in an attempt to undo his loss. Raffensperger rejected Trump’s assertions throughout the call.
