Chinese research team reaches summit of Mount Everest

A Chinese expedition team has successfully summited Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world. They will set up the world's highest weather station at 8,800 metres (28,871ft). The expedition aims to study climate-change patterns and the variation of greenhouse gas concentrations at extremely high altitudes. They also plan to measure the thickness of ice and snow on the summit for the first time.
