Chinese astronauts complete world record-breaking 9-hour spacewalk

The crew of China’s Shenzhou-19 spacecraft set a new world record by completing a marathon nine-hour spacewalk at the Tiangong space station. The feat was completed at around 10pm Beijing time (1400GMT) on December 17, 2024. Astronauts Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong were assigned the extravehicular duty, while Wang Haoze assisted them from inside the space station. It was the 17th spacewalk carried out by Chinese astronauts.
