With the growth in mountain tourism, Earth’s second-highest mountain, K2, has seen growing piles of trash, including frozen oxygen cans, broken tents and tangled ropes, left behind by climbers. Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Ali Sadpara and his team have embarked on a mission to clean up the mountain, removing 200kg (441lbs) of trash in over a week. The initiative is also Sadpara’s tribute to his father, who died in a 2021 expedition on the mountain.
