A new video released by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has showcased a remarkable first in hypersonic flight. CAS said the images show an unmanned MD-22 aircraft as it was launched into near space from a high-altitude balloon. The academy said the drone reached a speed of Mach 7 before it landed safely to be reused later.
The video clips show two or three different versions of the aircraft in different test trials, which also include MD-19 and MD-21.
