Semiconductor companies in Guangzhou’s Nansha district are betting on regional synergies in the Greater Bay Area to meet the increasing industrial demand for next-generation chip materials, company executives said at the China Conference hosted by the South China Morning Post on January 15, 2025. Yu Guojian, deputy general manager of Guangzhou Summit Crystal Semiconductor, told the Post that electric vehicles have proven to be a very good application scenario for his company’s materials. Founded in 2018, the company specialises in researching silicon carbide (SiC) single-crystal materials. It landed on Nansha because of the area’s advantage in industrial, talent and tax policies, Yu said.
