PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Beauty Alliance was able to back up a close second two runs ago in Class Two over the Sha Tin 1,800m with a prominently ridden third over the Valley 1,650m at this level. He must have claims. Do Your Part backed up an overdue 1,400m win in November with third three times at this level before finding one just too good after a box-seat run when trying the Valley 1,650m. He remains one of the chances. Wrote A New Page didn't click for his new trainer last start over 1,600m but had returned a winner in September to improve his record to three-from-three over today's Valley 1,650m and has Joao Moreira steering from gate one. California Moxie dashed strongly two runs ago for a second win plus a third from four straight Valley 1,650m runs before making good ground late for sixth in a higher grade. He cannot be ignored.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
WROTE A NEW PAGE (K226) near the 1200M was bumped. Rider reported that, in his opinion, his mount races better at Happy Valley. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 403.
FORTUNATE SON (J446) shifted out slightly at the start and was bumped. From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 534.
CALIFORNIA MOXIE (J131) shifted out on jumping and made contact with a runner. Rider stated that with the early and middle stages of the event being run outside of standard time his mount raced too keenly and as a consequence was unable to run on strongly in the Home Straight. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 552.
SUPERB KID (H298) jumped only fairly. Leaving the 400M was shifted in to continue into clear running - Race 564.
GRATIFIDE (K550) bumped at the start. From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 534.
SUPREME MASTERMIND (K387) jumped only fairly. Near the 1500M was contacted by a runner and then was hampered and taken wider. Rider reported that after that incident his mount did not travel well during the race and gave ground in the Home Straight. After the race was examined by the vet who found that horse to be lame in its right hind leg. Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 556.
