PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Candlelight Dinner beat Eternal Fortune settling effectively one-out, one-back last month for a second 1,000m win from three consecutive Valley sprints before failing yet again to run out a strong 1,200m. He should be well positioned to strike from gate one over his preferred trip. Horsepower has top weight and a wide draw but has had excuses both times over his favourite Valley 1,000m from five starts this term and did win off a similar mark in April. Harmony N Blessed is getting long in the tooth but has won a remarkable 10 times, including a 1,000m effort in November, and has stayed on well for fifth in two of his past three runs over the Valley 1,200m following a downgrade. He cannot be overlooked. Youthful Spirits does return to the C&D of a win in October off a near similar mark after failing to figure outside his comfort zone. He's a pace threat from gate three.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
RED ELEGANCE (H241) jumped awkwardly and lost ground - Race 474.
TOGETHER WE VALUE (L170) passing the 200M rider dropped his left rein for a number of strides - Race 520.
MR DESIRA (K411) post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 300.
HEY BROS (L150) from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 491.
BUNTA BABY (J465) shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages and approaching the winning post bumped a runner - Race 429.
WHIZZ KID (E392) passing the 200M lay out and was steadied when crowded. Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when positioned close to a runner - Race 520.
CENTRAL BANK (L222) jumped only fairly. When placed under pressure in the Home Straight lay in and proved difficult to ride - Race 442.
TRACKWORK HIGHLIGHT
Horsepower travelled up well into second in his latest Happy Valley trial and commands respect.
