Age: 59. Caspar Fownes assisted his late father Lawrie for several seasons before gaining his licence in 2003/04. He eclipsed his father's best season tally in his rookie year with 44 wins. In 2006/07 he won his first championship and went on to add four more. Fownes claimed a fifth title in 2025/26 with 69 wins, and in the same season also became only the fourth trainer in Hong Kong racing history to reach 1,200 wins. He saddled his second Hong Kong Sprint winner Sky Field in 2021, and he also scored a trio of Group 3 triumphs with Zebrowski and Senor Toba that same season. Fownes is renowned for his unmatched record at Happy Valley, where he has notched 674 career wins - the most in Hong Kong's professional era of racing, which began in 1971/72 - earning him the moniker 'King of the Valley'. Earlier stable stars included elite level winners Lucky Nine, The Duke, Super Satin, Green Birdie and Southern Legend, among others. Fownes has five top-level wins in Singapore.
