Punted late Ace Champion came with a barnstorming run from fourth last with one wider out to just edge favourite Tycoon Resources for a maiden win at his ninth local start. He had caught the eye to place in two of four course and distance starts last term. Tycoon Resources did everything right but get the win after darting to the lead 50m out following a one-off trip from behind midfield. He was able to get on track after a Sha Tin failure with a heart irregularity last start. Heavily punted Aurio made a solid bid late for third after making his run at the rear from gate 12. It was a good effort carrying top weight. Matters Most hung around for fourth prize money after a box-seat run. It was an improved effort on recent runs. Specked late Power Koepp plugged away in the centre for fifth after a one-off trip from better than midfield. He rarely throws a bad race over the Valley 1,200m. Harmony N Blessed was next best after pushing forward three wide to track the pace from gate 11. Tang Heart just held his ground after a rails run from midfield. He couldn't build on placings in two of three outings at Sha Tin.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (18) - WAN CHAI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 AURIO (K056) Z Purton From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 3 MOTOR (K165) K Teetan A Badel (POWER KOEPP) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of MOTOR, resulting in MOTOR having to be checked to avoid POWER KOEPP.

A Badel was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 20 September 2026 at Sha Tin.

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

K Teetan stated that his mount raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event and then gave ground in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 TYCOON RESOURCES (L234) Y L Chung Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 POWER KOEPP (E301) A Badel On jumping became unbalanced when crowded between TANG HEART and ACE CHAMPION, both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 400 Metres shifted out when being steadied to avoid MOTOR.

A Badel pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 100 Metres (see MOTOR).

Horse No 7 KING MILES (J158) C L Chau Between the 300 Metres and the 100 Metres was held up for clear running.

Near the 150 Metres was steadied and shifted out to avoid MOTOR.

Horse No 10 TANG HEART (L373) A Atzeni Shifted out at the start and was bumped.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 ACE CHAMPION (K379) C Y Ho Shifted in on jumping and became unbalanced when it made contact with POWER KOEPP.

Raced keenly in the early stages when being steadied to obtain a position with cover behind TYCOON RESOURCES.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 DEVAS TWELVE (H435) H Bentley Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Addition to Racing Incidents Report of 6 September 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting Race 10 (10) MASTER PAYMENT - Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

6 September 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting Race 5 (5) PODIUM - When questioned regarding his riding on the Home Turn and the reason he elected to shift to the inside of JOLLY COMPANION to attempt to secure clear running A Atzeni stated that he was instructed to allow PODIUM to settle where comfortable and to ride the horse between runners to give it a chance to finish the race off.

He said whilst there was an opportunity to shift to the outside of JOLLY COMPANION he was of the opinion that KANSAS, which was racing in advance of him, was travelling reasonably well and for this reason he elected to follow that runner through to comply with his instructions.

He added that when KANSAS did not improve as he had anticipated this resulted in PODIUM being held up for clear running between the 400 Metres and the 200 Metres.

Trainer D Eustace confirmed the instructions issued and stated that he issued those instructions on the basis that PODIUM races best when held up for a final run, particularly as the horse has performed best when racing at Happy Valley.

Whip Rule Offences - 6 September 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting The following jockey was found to be in breach of Rule 100(3)(ii)(a) for using the whip on consecutive occasions:- Race 5 (5) H Bowman (STUNNING BUNDLE) - 2 consecutive strides near the 300 Metres - Severe Reprimand Race 9 (9) Apprentice P N Wong (EXCELLENCE VALUE) was reprimanded in relation to using her whip on a horse which was clearly out of contention.
