Dual Group One winner Pakistan Star will be retired from Hong Kong racing.

Owner Kerm Din is expected to officially lodge the paperwork with the Jockey Club hierarchy this week after the former social media sensation refused to run in last month’s Group Two Jockey Club Sprint (1,200m) after about 100m.

It has been reported that Dubai is the six-year-old’s next destination and the Post understands Din has sounded out American trainer Doug Watson.

Those in racing circles have long suggested Dubai could be the best location for the enigmatic galloper, because of his ability to trial superbly on Sha Tin’s all-weather surface.

His trainer Paul O’Sullivan joked earlier this season that the horse would never be beaten if he got to race his whole career on dirt.

Pakistan Star rose to fame after his incredible last-to-first effort on debut at Sha Tin under jockey Matthew Chadwick.

He went on to win both the Group One QE II Cup (2,000m) and Champions & Chater Cup (2,400m) in 2018.

After being transferred from Tony Cruz’s stable halfway through last season, new trainer Paul O’Sullivan attempted to reinvent the son of Shamardal into a sprinter.

It was not to be however, completing just one race, where he finished fifth under jockey Zac Purton.

He will finish his Hong Kong career with five wins from 27 starts.
