Sixteen infant survivors from the deadly earthquake in Turkey were flown to the country’s capital on February 8, 2023, where doctors said the children, were in a good condition. The flights to Ankara for babies less than one year old were ordered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The leader has faced criticism over his handling of the quake response, which some have called slow and inadequate.
