Outgoing UK prime minister Liz Truss joins ranks of shortest-serving world leaders

After just six weeks as the British prime minister, Liz Truss resigned on October 20, 2022, becoming the UK’s shortest-serving prime minister. She will remain at 10 Downing Street in a caretaker role until a successor is chosen. Truss joins a list of world leaders with brief tenures, but while she is now the UK’s shortest-serving prime minister, her 45 days in office was still comparably longer than many others.
