Lockerbie plane bombing suspect in US custody for allegedly killing 270 people in 1988

A Libyan man accused of building the bomb that blew up Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland 34 years ago is in US custody. The confirmation came from Scottish and US law enforcement officials on December 11, 2022. Abu Agila Mohammad Mas'ud Kheir Al-Marimi, charged by US authorities in December 2020, is believed to be the third Libyan intelligence operative responsible for the deadliest-ever militant attack in Britain. The bomb on board the Boeing 747 plane, bound for New York, killed all 259 passengers and 11 people on the ground.
