When those who care for others need help themselves: mental health for Hong Kong’s domestic helpers

Eny Bawse was just 15 years old when she started working as a domestic worker in Jakarta, Indonesia. Over the past 20 years, she was so busy taking care of others that she often forgot about her own well-being. When Eny realised she was suffering from depression in 2018, she began a tough journey in a city where few mental health professionals catered to her community. In this episode of Listen to Her, Eny sits down with Post reporter Lisa Cam and explains why she started a group to help some of Hong Kong’s more than 338,000 domestic helpers deal with their mental health struggles.
