‘No replacement for human connection’: HandsOn Hong Kong’s mission to unify the community
Each month, HandsOn Hong Kong runs over 200 volunteer activities in the city, supporting over 100 frontline NGOs.
Catherine Tong says she found her calling about nine years ago when she moved from the corporate world to charity. “We are all humans, and we all need connection, and we all need purpose”, said Tong who became the executive director for HandsOn Hong Kong in 2022, when the city was still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic. Each month, HandsOn Hong Kong runs over 200 volunteer activities in Hong Kong, supporting over 100 frontline NGOs. The charity is now launching its serve-a-thon on May 17, 2025, hoping to encourage more citizens to serve the community.
