Anti-scam measures ramped up as deepfake cases set to rise: police chief

In an exclusive interview with the Post, police chief Raymond Siu has warned that fraud involving deepfake technology is likely to be the next major form of swindling to plague the city, even as the overall rise in reported scams has slowed. In a bid to combat fraudulent transactions, warning messages will be displayed on ATMs by the end of next March, the police commissioner has also revealed. He also discusses other issues the force faces, from lingering labels of the city as a “police state” to recruitment challenges.
