Hong Kong bookseller disappearances

Bookseller Lam Wing-kee reveals explosive details of his mainland detention, claims Lee Po told him he was “taken away from Hong Kong”

A bookseller who went missing for nearly eight months and only returned to Hong Kong from the mainland this week described on Thursday his harrowing detention at a border crossing and sustained efforts by authorities there to extract information from him.

Lam Wing-kee also stated during a 70-minute press briefing that fellow bookseller Lee Po told him he had been “taken away from Hong Kong” – contrary to Lee’s contention after his release on March 24 that he had entered and left the mainland voluntarily.
