Many Japanese eateries in China are worried about the future after authorities announced tightened regulations on imports of food from Japan. The new rules are being introduced after the UN nuclear watchdog approved Tokyo’s controversial plan to discharge into the ocean a large amount of treated radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant that was damaged by a quake and tsunami in 2011. Restaurants like Toya in Beijing say they have already lost many Chinese customers over radiation fears.
