Communities along the coast of Japan’s Fukushima prefecture remain concerned over the ongoing release of water from the area’s badly damaged nuclear power plant. The water came into contact with hazardous materials within the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, but then underwent a treatment process that removed most radioactive elements before its release. Despite assurances from the Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) and experts with Japanese and international authorities, some local residents in Fukushima remain wary of the future.
