The operator of the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan has released video capturing the start of the operation to discharge treated radioactive water from the wrecked plant into the ocean. The first phase of the operation began on August 24, 2023, sparking protests in Japan and abroad. Tepco said the release began at 1.03pm local time and it had not detected any abnormalities.
