China to send envoy to Ukraine after Xi and Zelensky hold first call since Russian invasion

President Xi Jinping and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with each other in an April 26, 2023, phone call. The talks were confirmed by President Zelensky and Hua Chunying, spokeswoman of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conversation is understood to be the first time the two leaders have spoken since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
