PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Sovereign Fund wasn't too far off the finish with excuses in three of his first four runs over his favourite Valley 1,200m this term before faltering badly after attacking the pace from gate 11 at Sha Tin. He's capable of better and now steps out for Brett Crawford who's done a wonderful job of revitalising transfers. Tourbillon Golfer has yet to miss the placings in four Valley 1,200m runs, adding to a wire-to-wire win in Class Four with two placings at this level. He makes use of a 5lb claimer and will have options from gate one. Mighty Commander quickened very well ridden for luck at the rear from gate nine under tonight's rider last month for a second Valley 1,200m win and first in Class Three before coming from near last for fourth to Greater Bae under a claimer. He will go close. Amazing Kid has taken full advantage of good draws to win his past three starts over this C&D. He's up in grade from a trickier draw but will have 10lb less to carry.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
KYRUS DRAGON (H396) from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Between the 150M and the 50M was held up. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. The next day was reported to be lame in its left front leg. Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 252.
SPORTS LEGEND (H456) shifted out at the start and was bumped - Race 353.
MIGHTY COMMANDER (J360) raced ungenerously in the early stages when being shifted across behind runners from a wide barrier. In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 750M was steadied to avoid a runner. Lay in in the Home Straight and proved difficult to ride out - Race 393.
WINGS OF WAR (H162) in the middle stages raced keenly - Race 391.
BIENVENUE (J490) after the race was examined by the vet who found that horse to have bled from both nostrils and was also displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 158.
SOVEREIGN FUND (J402) rider stated that from a wide barrier he had to make too much use of his mount in the early stages to hold the lead. He said in the Home Straight his mount gave ground due to the efforts in the early stages of the event. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 255.
STORMING DRAGON (J237) from the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages. Near the 150M was shifted out to continue into clear running - Race 393.
BUNDLE OF CHARM (G213) rider could offer no excuse for the horse's disappointing performance. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 393.
GAZELEY (K253) jumped only fairly and then was crowded. Raced keenly in the early stages and approaching the first turn was steadied to avoid a runner - Race 391.
IGOR STRAVINSKY (K086) bumped near the 300M. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 411.
WONDERSTAR (J531) over the concluding stages raced tight - Race 399.
