TROUBLE IN RUNNING

GLOWING PRAISES (L223) after travelling a short distance made contact with a runner - Race 124.

LUCY IN THE SKY (J275) at the start was bumped - Race 146.

CANDLELIGHT DINNER (J468) in the Home Straight hung in under pressure - Race 124.

LUCKY RIVER (L516) jumped awkwardly, resulting in its rider becoming unbalanced. Then was shifted in and made contact with a runner. Rider reported that, in his opinion, the horse, which was racing first up, would derive a fitness benefit from the performance. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 126.

PRESTIGE ALWAYS (J300) was withdrawn at the barriers by order of the Stewards acting on vet advice (lame left front leg) . Has since passed an official vet exam - Race 087.

JUMBO BLESSING (K529) bumped shortly after the start. Leaving the 600M struck heels when being checked - Race 042.

SMART OINK (L542) jumped only fairly. Near the 1000M was steadied when racing keenly and then was shifted out and made contact with a runner. Raced wide and without cover, and lay out on the Home Turn before giving ground in the Home Straight - Race 126.

CALA DEI MORI (L428) when questioned regarding his riding of the horse and the reason he rode his mount forward to race outside the leader, rider confirmed that his instructions were to go forward and take up a position behind the expected leaders. He said as his mount does have a tendency to jump fairly he ensured that his mount jumped well and then rode his mount along in the early stages to comply with his instructions. He said after riding his mount along and when caught wide to the outside of a runner, his mount, which was racing in blinkers for the first time, then commenced to race keenly and as a result he improved forward of that runner to race outside the leader. He added in the early stages his mount would not settle and as a result the pace of the event was run faster than he would have preferred, however, his mount would not respond to his efforts to set a more sustainable pace. He said from the 800M his mount settled better and he was able to restrain the horse to obtain a position further back from the leader. Trainer confirmed the instructions were to obtain a position with cover behind the expected leaders and agreed that the horse raced keenly with blinkers being applied for the first time. After considering his explanation the Stewards advised rider that he had made an error of judgement in the early stages by riding his mount along which resulted in the horse racing too keenly, particularly as he was aware that the horse had raced keenly in its two barrier trials on 19 September 2026 and 2 October 2026 when it wore blinkers on those occasions. Rider was further advised that in similar circumstances he would be expected to show better judgement than what he did on that occasion so as to leave no room for query. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 091.

RED ELEGANCE (H241) near the 500M shifted out after being bumped - Race 035.

EMBRACE ABERDEEN (L020) when questioned rider stated that he expected to hold a more forward position, however, when a number of runners showed superior pace his mount settled further back than he had anticipated - Race 096.
