PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Gameplayer Elite won't find an easier race after improving to place third after a handy run and conservatively ridden fifth from gate 10 in back-to-back Valley 1,200m runs following a return to his former stable. Genius Baby has a tricky gate but did have to cover ground in a defeat last start over 1,400m and does return to the track and trip of a win, fourth and fifth after joining the Brett Crawford stable in November. Flash Star is not reliable and has gate 11 but is the only other winner this season in the race following rallying success two runs ago over this C&D before failing on the pace last start from gate 12. Star Performer has been hovering around the finish in his past five runs over the Valley 1,000m, including fourths from midfield in back-to-back runs, and will try to build on an even seventh at his only Valley 1,200m run in October.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
GENIUS BABY (K132) bumped near the 400M. Rider reported that his mount may not have run out the 1400M of the race. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 441.
SKY CAP (K125) rider reported that his mount had to do a lot of work in the early stages to take up a forward position and, in his opinion, failed to handle the All Weather surface at its first attempt. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 417.
GRAND MASTERMIND (L084) rider stated that he had concern with his mount's action in the Home Straight and as a result did not fully test it to the finish of the event. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 367.
VIVA BOSS (L139) shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced. Leaving the 400M when racing greenly became unbalanced and shifted out and away from a runner - Race 445.
FLASH STAR (K431) in the Home Straight lay in when placed under pressure and approaching the 200M shifted in and made contact with a runner. Rider advised that from the outside barrier he was instructed to take up a forward position. He said his mount then raced too keenly in the lead before giving ground in the Home Straight. Trainer confirmed the instructions and advised that he issued those instructions as he felt there was not strong pace in the race. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings - Race 406.
FALCON HUNTER (K503) rounding the Home Turn initially shifted out to improve and was disappointed for sufficient racing room. Subsequently was shifted back in after the 300M and then had difficulty gaining clear running over the concluding stages. Rider accidentally dropped his whip inside the 100M - Race 428.
GIDDY UP (J020) from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 435.
GAMEPLAYER ELITE (H356) from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages - Race 405.
ETERNAL RICHNESS (K557) bumped on jumping - Race 447.
